About

South West Heritage Trust cares for a large and wide-ranging collection representing the history of Somerset and its people over thousands of years.

The collections chiefly belong to four organisations: Somerset County Council, Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society, Somerset Military Museum Trust and North Somerset Council. Objects are cared for at the Somerset Heritage Centre in Taunton and are displayed at The Museum of Somerset, Somerset Rural Life Museum and Weston-Super-Mare Museum.

The collections reflect the themes of archaeology, costume and textiles, fine and decorative art, geology, natural history, militaria, social history and world cultures. This online database showcases some of the highlights across these themes and allows you to carry out specific as well as broader-term searches.
