This silver medallion pays tribute to the Somerset Light Infantry's role in the 1st Afghan War, fought in Jellabad in 1842. The medallion is part of a set of 52 Great British Regiments medallions produced by The Birmingham Mints in 1976 to honour regiments which have passed over time.
