Kewstoke Reliquary

Description
The relics of saints had powerful significance for the faithful. This limestone reliquary was found in St Paulês Church in Kewstoke. It held a wooden cup which was believed to contain the blood of St Thomas Becket. The reliquary dates from about 1300 and may originally have belonged to Woodspring Priory, which was dedicated to Becket.
