Shoes worn by Joseph Sewell

Description
Joseph Sewell was seven feet four inches (2.2 metres) tall and weighed 37 stone. From an early age he made a living by charging people to see him at fairs and country gatherings. He always received a warm welcome at Taunton and when he died in 1829 he was brought back to the town for burial. His shoes have long been one of the best-known exhibits in the museum.
