Description
A William and Mary Taunton laceback trefid (splitting into three parts) spoon, pricked EL over TW with the date 1692. Struck in Taunton dies (the stem die crisp, bowl die worn), the maker's mark is struck twice on the stem, ED for Ellen Dare, widow of Thomas Dare II (died 1685). Ellen continued the family business with energy and ability, surviving until 1738.
