This sword was used by Mary Bridge to defend her mother from the attentions of a Royalist officer. He went to their house at Westonzoyland shortly after the battle of Sedgemoor. Mary, who was 12 years old, took the officerês sword and stabbed him through the heart. She was acquitted of any wrong-doing and was given the sword. It passed down through generations of her family.
