Pith helmet with bullet hole

Description
This pith helmet features a red embroidered Somerset Light Infantry badge. It was worn by Lance Corporal Mabey of the 2nd Somersetshire Light Infantry during the Boer War. In 1900 he was wounded during operations to relieve the besieged town of Ladysmith. He was lucky to survive. The helmet was manufactured by Peninsula Hat Manufacturing, Calcutta.
